The MAX Mission

We are convinced that the whole church can play a significant role in reaching young people today. The 'MAX Mission' is an opportunity for all of us to effectively reach this generation with the gospel. The MAX Mission was originally formed as the basis on which the evangelistic efforts of young people, youth groups and churches up and down the country would be focussed in 2007. This mission set out to encourage Christians to share their faith and the amazing message of the Gospel with friends and family. The culmination of all these evangelistic efforts was a 1 day event called the Gathering MAX, which was full of contemporary music from top class bands and a relevant presentation of the Gospel by Mark Ritchie.

In 2008 we are carrying on with the focus of this MAX Mission, but this time “taking it back to the streets.” In the form of the MAX Unleashed we aim to reach over 20,000 with the Gospel and we believe that 2000 will make a decision towards Christ. This cannot be done simply by one central event such as the Gathering MAX. The success of the mission will be in local churches putting on their own programmes / events / meetings and by reaching out to the young people in the streets and schools they are already connected with.

The 'MAX Mission' has 3 elements:

Serious4Our Friends
Young People all over the country are committing themselves to pray for three of their friends. They are praying that God would provide the opportunities for them to show acts of kindness to these friends and share the reality of their faith with them. Whereas in 2007 this led to inviting their friends to the G:MAX, young people can now encourage them to go to a locally organised event, or meeting where they will hear the Gospel preached and be given an opportunity to respond.

We want to encourage everyone to sign up to this part of the mission by registering on the website and ticking the Serious4Our Friends option from within their profile. This will enable us to join with them in prayer and bring support and encouragement via email. We have also made Serious4Our Friends wristbands which are a great daily reminder of the commitment.

Serious4Our Forgotten
Across the country churches have had young people who walked out through their doors never to return. They may have been attending a youth club or been a key part of the church but then they stopped and they haven't been seen since. We are encouraging churches to get together with their leaders and youth leaders and compile lists of names of the 'forgotten'. From here we hope they can put plans in place as to how contact can be made and how relationships can be built. Maybe 'Re-unions' could be hosted by the churches or meals could be put on. The main emphasis though is on re-establishing a friendship between the individuals and the church. As these friendships grow, it would be hoped that each person would come to a point where they are ready to re-commit their life, and the opportunity for them to do this would be provided by your church along with continued support as they find their place again within the church body.

Serious4Our Families
There are parents, grandparents and various family members across our churches that carry the heartache of a 'prodigal' within their family. We are encouraging churches to link these 'praying' family members together to join forces and support one another in their cries to God. We are encouraging them to work on strengthening relationships with their 'prodigals' and to think about how their church can reach out to them during the MAX Unleashed month seeing them return and find repentance.

MAX Unleashed – taking it back to the streets!!

On Saturday 27th October 2007 we united together in a huge step of faith, believing that we could take one of the countries leading event venues, the NEC Arena, and see it filled with Christians, their non-Christian or prodigal family and friends. We went with expectation that God would be present and greatly impact lives. And we saw 1137 people make a response to the Gospel appeal.

In October 2008 we want to unite again in a further step of faith. By applying the same principle from the Gathering MAX of bringing to God the empty vessels for Him to fill, we want encourage churches to think and plan situations and opportunities where the love of Jesus can be expressed, the message of the Gospel shared and the people that God wants to receive it can be present. Even now God may be impressing people on your heart, people that He wants to see in His Kingdom. Pray for them. Live out your faith in full view of them. And believe that God is taking them on a journey to salvation.

Together we can take the Good News into our streets and towns, we can see this life-transforming message unleashed in peoples’ lives and our nation changed.

Unleash the Gospel. Unleash your faith.
