We started our week of seeking the Lord at the same time as we prepared and packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. This seemed very fitting and in keeping with the work of mission in our community of faith.

 

Some were skeptical that we could do it, that is to cover all 168 hours, being that we are as yet a relatively small fellowship. I believe there were up to 16 hours uncovered, but people were in the building, if not in the prayer room during those times, engaged in other activities.

 

All who went into the prayer room reported the presence of God in there. People who wondered how they would be able to spend a whole hour in the prayer room, usually ended up being in there much longer! Some used the paints, wrote on the walls, wrote creatively, danced and sang. Others just sat or lay on the cushions and communed with our wonderful God. Some shed many tears and didn’t know why.

 

The young people were part of the whole week, as they spent 4 nights out of the week sleeping over in the building and having fun, food, films and so on. Some did spend time, even briefly, in the prayer room. One group of 4 or 5 spent an hour in there, just chilling out. They reported that it was “awesome”.

 

Every member of the church who went in came out changed. After all, it is in His presence that we are changed; one word from God turns lives round or turns lives over in a heartbeat… We saw healings of bodies, minds and hearts. Situations and circumstances that were prayed for were changed. People got words that have begun big changes in their lives. For example, God told the Pastor’s wife that it was now time for her to leave her job. Others were led deeper into a trust in God that they had not experienced before; others were challenged about relationships within the church family and their own families.

 

In short, God came and visited with us and answered prayers. There will be much more that will be worked out and walked out as a result of His people having separated themselves to seek His face and spend quality and quantity time with Him during this week.
